• Rainbow flag

The rainbow flag is a form of the rainbow as a symbol. In many cultures around the world it stands for new beginnings, change and peace, and it is seen as a sign of tolerance and acceptance, the diversity of life forms, hope and longing.

    • Orange = “Health”
    • Yellow = “sunlight”

  • progress

The Progress flag was designed in 2017 by nonbinary graphic designer Daniel Quasar. This variation of the original rainbow flag includes a wedge on the left side in the colors of the trans pride flag and brown and black, the colors of marginalized communities. This wedge, which is pointed in the direction the flag is waving, symbolizes that there is still much progress to be made. The colors are intended to draw special attention to trans people and black people and other people of color. In addition, the black stripe is also intended to represent those who are living with or have died from AIDS and the stigma associated with it.

  • New Progress incl. Inter*

The organization Intersex Equality Rights UK had Valentino Vecchietti design an addition to the so-called "Philly Flag." As a reminder: The Philadelphia flag had the old or original rainbow design that the US activist Gilbert Baker had created in the late 1970s, expanded to include black and brown stripes in order to make people of color (PoC) visible as a sign against racism and exclusion. This was later expanded again to include a triangle on the side in the colors of the trans movement (white, pink, light blue).

And now the triangle moves even further towards the middle to make room for a yellow triangle on the far left, with a purple circle.

The symbolism of the Inter flag: It has a bright yellow background with a purple circle on it. The traditional "gender colours" of blue and pink are deliberately avoided, as are the rainbow colours. The circle, on the other hand, is unbroken and undecorated. "It symbolises wholeness and completeness and our possibilities," says Intersex Human Rights Australia.

  • Lesbian

The pink lesbian flag consists of six shades of red and pink and a white bar in the middle. The original design, known as the Lipstick Lesbian Flag, features a red kiss and was introduced at This Lesbian Life in 2010. Both the pink and lipstick lesbian flags represent gay women with a more feminine gender expression. The original design of the flag is not widely used; however, this version without the kissing lips is more commonly used.

  • Lesbian New

The lesbian flag was redesigned on Twitter and Tumblr in 2018 by Emily Gwen, as the original flag with the pink stripes was associated with transphobia and butchphobia. This new flag is explicitly intended to include all lesbians, including trans lesbians, nonbinary lesbians, and lesbians who do not use they/them pronouns. The stripes represent, from top to bottom: gender nonconformity, independence, community, special relationship with femininity, clarity and peace, love and sex, and femininity.

  • Gay

The flag consists of shades of blue and azure and symbolizes the mutual attraction of men and the diversity of the gay community.

Blue and azure shades for the gay flag were chosen due to the fact that these colors are used especially for the symbolic image of men and homosexual men.

The flag has seven horizontal stripes. The first three upper stripes are colored in azure gradation from dark to light: azure, sky blue, light sky blue. The fourth stripe is white. The fifth stripe is gray light blue. The last sixth and seventh stripes are blue, from light to dark.

The goal of creating this flag was to increase the subjectivity of the gay community as a separate part of the overall LGBT community and the awareness of gays about their own specific problems - such as gayphobia and misandry (gender stereotypes against men) in general, male divergence, demonization of gay men with accusations of child abuse, sadism and other unacceptable perversions, double standards regarding attitudes towards bisexuality and bi-curiosity, problems with reproductive rights and opportunities (access to surrogacy services, creation of an artificial womb and male reproductive independence in general), a number of countries where only male homosexuality is prohibited, a rigid framework for gentle tactile male friendship and a gender-specific "male box" in general.

  • Bisexual

The bisexual flag serves as a global symbol of recognition and to represent bisexual pride.

The flag was created in 1998 by Michael Page with the intention of giving bisexuals a recognizable symbol. Page's goal was to increase the visibility of bisexual people both in society and in the LGBT community. The first bisexual flag was unveiled on December 5, 1998 at the celebration of the first anniversary of the BiCafe.

The colors are based on the following color symbolism:

    • Blue stands for heterosexuality
    • Pink stands for homosexuality
    • Purple, the result of mixing blue and pink, represents bisexuality, but it often also includes attraction to people with a nonbinary gender identity who do not identify with any gender.

  • Transgender

Transgender (Latin trans "beyond, beyond", and English gender "social gender") is a term for people whose gender identity does not or does not completely correspond to the gender assigned at birth based on their external characteristics, or who reject binary classification.

Transgenderism is independent of sexual orientation; people who are transgender can be heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual or asexual, or they can reject a more specific description of their sexuality.

The blue stripes represent masculinity, the pink stripes represent femininity and the white stripe represents non-binary, intersex and transitioning people.

  • Pansexual

A pansexual person is capable of feeling sexual or romantic feelings for people of both sexes. Pansexuality can also be described as a special form of bisexuality. Bisexuals are, by definition, attracted to two or more sexes and gender identities, which is why bisexuals can also define themselves as pansexual. The syllable poly in polysexuality comes from Greek and means 'many'. Accordingly, polysexuals feel attracted to more than two gender identities, but not necessarily to all of them.

  • Asexual

Asexuality refers to the absence of sexual attraction towards others, lack of interest in sex or a lack of desire for it.

Asexuality is not synonymous with sexual abstinence. This only involves abstaining from sexual activity (despite the ability and motivation to do so). However, some asexuals even have consensual sex, although the reasons for this can vary greatly. The most common reasons given are the desire to have children or to maintain a relationship with a non-asexual partner.

  • Nonbinary

Nonbinary gender identity, in short nonbinary or non-binary (English nonbinary , short enby), is a collective term for gender identities from the transgender spectrum that are neither exclusively male nor female, and therefore lie outside this binary classification.

    Intersexuality or
    Intersex refers to

In summary, very different clinical phenomena with different biological causes, such as deviations of the sex chromosomes or genetically caused hormonal developmental disorders.

Intersex is classified as a disorder of sex development (DSD). However, DSD also includes cases that do not have ambiguous genitalia at birth. In the specialist literature, the frequency of ambiguous genitalia at birth is estimated at around 1:4500 to 5500; others estimate the number of intersex people in Germany at around 0.2% of the population or 0.007% of newborns.

  • Aromantic

An aromantic is a person who feels little to no romantic attraction to others or who has no desire for romantic interaction. It can be assumed that aromanticism in the sense of a romantic or emotional orientation is no more a decision than sexual orientations.

Sometimes the term aromanticism is used simply to describe the absence of the "ability" to fall in love (which is sometimes also referred to as "nonamorous" or "not having an amorous disposition"). There are also people who describe themselves as aromantic despite the need to enter into an intimate relationship.

  • Demisexual

It is unknown when or by whom the demisexual flag was created, but it is presumed to have been created after the asexual flag was created in 2010, as it uses the same colors based on the AVEN logo. In both the asexual and demisexual flags, black is black, representing lack of sexual attraction, and purple represents the ace-spec community. The gray represents greysexual , under which demisexuality is included. On the demisexual flag, white represents sexual attraction.

Demisexual is a sexual orientation on the asexual spectrum, defined as someone who does not experience sexual attraction until they have formed a deep emotional connection with someone. The connection can be romantic , platonic , or another form of connection. What is considered a "close connection" can vary between demisexuals. Forming an emotional bond with someone does not mean that one automatically feels attracted to that person, as it only means that one now has the opportunity to feel attracted.

It's important to distinguish between typical sexual attraction to friends and romantic partners and demisexuality. In addition, it's important to note that demisexuals don't simply choose to abstain from sexual activity until they know the person better.

  • Genderfluid

    Colors and meaning:

    = Pink for femininity
     = White for all genders
= Purple for both: femininity and masculinity
= Black for the absence of gender
     = Blue for masculinity

For genderfluid people, the gender identity changes over a period of time or in relation to certain situations. The gender can change between all possible genders, e.g. from male to female, but also from female to nonbinary, from nonbinary to agender, etc. In contrast to a genderqueer identity, the identity changes and is not necessarily located outside the gender binary at all times.

  • Agender

The Agender flag was designed by Salem in 2014. It includes the colors: black, gray, white and green. Black and white stand for the total absence of gender, gray stands for "semi-genderless" and green stands for non-binary gender (inverse of purple).

Agender is a term that can be literally translated as having no gender . It can be viewed as either a non-binary gender identity or a statement about the absence of a gender identity. People who identify as agender may describe themselves as one or more of the following:

    • Genderless or without gender.
    • Gender neutral. This can be meant in the sense that neither man nor woman nor has a gender.
    • Neutrois or gender neutral.
    • Having an unknown or undefinable gender; not conforming to a binary or non-binary gender.
    • Not having any other words that match their gender identity.
    • Not knowing or caring about gender, as an internal identity and/or as an external label.
    • Decision not to indicate their gender.
    • More than one person identifying as any gender.

Many agender people also identify as genderqueer , nonbinary , and/or transgender . However, some agender people prefer to avoid these terms, particularly transgender, as they believe it means identifying as a different gender than their assigned gender , while in fact they do not identify as any gender at all. In fact, the term agender is considered an oxymoron among many. Since it is a lack of gender, some believe it should not be referred to as a gender at all. Others see the agender label as a declaration that they are without gender entirely.Agender people may prefer pronouns , although some prefer to use gender-inclusive language about themselves as much as possible. They may also present in any way— male , female , both , or something entirely beyond the binary. Agender people may (but do not necessarily) experience gender dysphoria when they are unable to express their identity the way they want to. Agender people may seek many of the same hormone therapies or surgeries available to transgender and nonbinary people. Agender people can be any sexuality and should not be confused with being asexual . The seven-stripe agender flag was created in 2014 by Salem, also known as Tumblr user Transrants. The four-stripe alternative agender flag always has the black stripe on top, not to be confused with the aromantic flag, which has more stripes, and the black stripe on the bottom.

  • autism

Autistic Pride Day has been celebrated annually on June 18 since 2005. It is intended to express the desire of many autistic adults for social acceptance of their autistic characteristics.

Proponents of Autistic Pride criticize the pathologizing of autism. They argue that the hypothesis of an ideal and therefore desirable brain structure leads to the assumption that any deviation requires a "cure" in order to achieve conformity with an imaginary "neurologically typical" norm. They follow the principle of neurodiversity .

At the lowest common denominator, activists agree that autistic people should be valued more as unique individuals.

  • Puppy

This Puppy Pride flag was created and released to the public on May 10, 2011 by 'Pup Flip Gray' based on contributions from more than 1000 members of the Puppy Pride Flag Design by Grungepup Jeff Facebook group. It is the official Puppy Pride flag of International Puppy Pride.

The Puppy Pride Flag is very similar to the 7 stripe design created by Jeff Hull (Grungepup Jeff), but like the first Puppy Pride flag with the centered red Doberman head, this design has all 9 black, blue and white stripes of the Leather Pride Flag created by Tony DeBlase, a symbol for the leather community which includes those interested in leather, Levi's, SM, BD, uniform, cowboys, rubber and other fetishes.

Unlike previous flags, the white stripe in this design is 1.5 times wider than the other stripes to represent the breadth of the pup community, and like Grungepup's design, the stripes are arranged on a 30-degree diagonal, reminiscent of the pup flag designed by Keith P to indicate a new direction. Like Grungepup's design, the blood red bone in the center is reminiscent of the pup pride flag designed by Kirk.

"Pup Flip Grey has released this design into the public domain so it can be used and reproduced royalty-free for personal or commercial use. Feel free to copy and use it.~ Pup Flip Grey (LeatherPup) May 10, 2011
